need to do before your FE exam
civil engineering make sure you bring everything on our checklist, find
out inside information about what to expect when you get there, and remember
this important advice from professors.
You've been studying for weeks, and this final exam day is
finally here. You've got everything covered, including our full examination day
checklist! Remember to relax, stay positive, and do your best so you can feel
confident when the results come in.
The morning you take the FE Exam
Eat breakfast.
Eating a good, light breakfast will ensure that you have
enough energy to make it through the exam. It's best if you choose foods with
nutrients that keep your brain alert and focused - this includes fresh fruit,
proteins, and healthy fats.
In some cases, anxiety can be eased by meditating or
exercising.
One thing you might experience before taking a test is
anxiety. There are several options for reducing your test anxiety and getting
into the right mindset to take your exam, one of which would be meditation or
going for a walk. And even though it's natural to feel nervous before an exam,
try maintaining a positive attitude throughout your test preparation. Rather
than focusing on the negative aspects of taking your test, focus on how well
you can do in that moment.
Map your route to the Testing Center.
To avoid being late or stressed on the day of your driving
exam, map out your route to the testing center the night before. This way, you
can see if there are any road closures or traffic so that you can plan
accordingly. Make sure you leave early so you have plenty of time to get to the
center, so that you're not rushed.
Below is a checklist of what you'll need to bring to the
FE:
ID
You will want to show your valid form of identification,
like a driver's license or passport, when you check in on the day of the test.
Snacks
We allow you to bring your own food and drinks into the
testing center. You can keep them in your locker until you decide to take a
break from testing. Make sure you pack a lunch or plenty of snacks because it
may be a while before you'll get anything to eat.
Jacket
When taking high-stakes exams, it's important to dress
appropriately. This will help you avoid being uncomfortable and distracting
yourself with your clothing. Wear layers in case the room temperature is
different than what you’re used to. In other words, make sure your clothes are
comfortable so you can focus on the exam without worrying about anything else.
Calculator
Preparation is key on the SAT, and especially the math
section. Grab a calculator! The online one that is on the test isn't as
effective or efficient, so I would recommend bringing your own. Here are a few
approved calculators to help with your Civil FE exam prep.
Cheat Sheet
Before you take the exam, you'll get a chance to review your
cheat sheet. You may also take a few minutes during your break to go over it.

include up-to-date information that is relevant but not overwhelming.
Exam Breakdown:
The FE exam is a two-section exam composed of 110
multiple-choice questions. The morning and afternoon sections cover different
topics and have their own time limits. Section 1 covers morning material and
covers up until you take a 25-minute break, so you'll want to keep track of
your time wisely. Section 2 covers the rest of your exam, which is after the
break, so only spend as much time on it as possible!
When you come to The Testing Center, you'll be able to
expect these three things:
When you arrive at the FE exam testing center, the proctor
will check in with you and present a valid form of identification. They'll then
search your belongings (including your calculator) and take your picture,
before giving you a locker to store them. The proctor will then give you the
necessary supplies for taking notes, including a booklet and pen.
When you set up your account, the first thing you'll see is
an 8-minute tutorial on how to prepare for the FE exam . In this tutorial, we'll
cover how to answer drag and drop questions, fill in the blank questions, and
more.
It's time to take stock of your situation. Before you start
the exam, take a moment to take 3 deep breaths. Remember that you've put in a
lot of hard work and dedication. You don't have to get a perfect score, just do
the best you can, and give it your all. Now it's important that before you
start, you make sure to click "YES" to go ahead - after that, your
time will start counting down.
